Amanda Guerra is an Emmy-award winning journalist and a familiar face and now voice in North Texas.  Prior to joining KRLD, Amanda was an anchor and reporter for NBC 5 in Dallas-Fort Worth for five years where she was a trusted personality for viewers.

Amanda grew up in Richardson and is a proud graduate of Ursuline Academy in Dallas. After high school, Amanda attended the University of Oklahoma where she was heavily involved in the school’s journalism program. She interned for CBS News in New York, NY, where she worked closely with Charles Osgood on CBS Sunday Morning. She also spent time abroad in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy.

After graduation, Amanda was offered the rare opportunity to work at the ABC affiliate KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City as a reporter at the age of 22. At the time she was one of the youngest hires ever in the market. While in Oklahoma City, Amanda covered a vast array of news, but found a niche in of all things, chasing tornadoes. While fulfilling her daily news coverage, during tornado season you could find Amanda in the plains of Oklahoma tracking tornadoes and reporting back to her station.

Amanda landed back in North Texas in 2011 when she was hired as a reporter for KXAS-TV, NBC 5. She was quickly promoted to weekend evening anchor. Amanda covered some of the most notable stories in Texas during the next five years, including the death of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, the West fertilizer plant explosion, Ebola outbreak, the World Series and Presidential visits. In 2016, Amanda decided to take a break from TV in to spend more time with her family and friends. She found a new home on the airwaves at KRLD News Radio 1080.

In her spare time, Amanda is an avid sports fan and you can often find her cheering at Rangers, Stars, Mavericks and Cowboys games.

She’s a fierce animal lover, a mom to her bulldog Molly and an advocate for pet shelter adoption. Amanda is also heavily involved in raising awareness for childhood homelessness and is a committed volunteer at Vogle Alcove in Dallas. She attends the Munger Place Church.
