Jane Slater

  Jane Slater is excited to join Mark “Elf” Elfenbein as his other half on the 10a-2p hour on 105.3 The Fan. The two have a shared passion for their Texas Longhorns, hard work and having fun. Slater hopes to add a different perspective to the DFW sports dialogue and is excited CBS Radio is now giving her that chance. After spending more time on sports blogs instead of the news blogs, she is excited to hang up her news hat and return to her roots in sports.

She is a Texas girl who can get in some pretty passionate conversations about college and pro football. She would rather attend sporting events over fashion shows, talk sports with the guys at the local bar versus ladies tea. She considers herself a “guy’s girl” but don’t be fooled-she loves to get all dolled up with the girls too. She can talk batting averages as freely as she can politics and tabloid trash.

Prior to joining 105.3 the Fan, she carried double duties. She worked as a morning drive reporter on NewsRadio 1080 KRLD-AM and also worked as the evening traffic reporter for WFAA-TV.

In the fall, Slater is proud to add sideline reporter to her resume as the third member of the Southland Conference Television Network’s broadcasting team. In 2011, she watched the Sam Houston Bobcats make their push to the FCS Championship in Frisco.

Prior to joining KRLD-AM and WFAA-TV, she worked for CBS11 as a freelance reporter and anchor after making stops in Tyler and Denver where she did everything from producing to sports, investigative reporting to anchoring.

Jane grew up in Rowlett, TX and is a 2003 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she received degrees in both Journalism and Government. Interestingly enough, her very first job out of college was at KRLD-AM in sales.

She has covered political conventions, natural disasters and community tragedies in her near decade long career but she is ready to lighten things up a bit in her switch to the midday drive and hopes you’ll tune in for a different perspective. If you see her at the Fan lounge, the drink of choice is beer…let’s talk Mavs, Rangers and the Cowboys.
