Joyce Nielsen was born in Denmark and raised in San Antonio and has always considered herself a Texas native.
In 1984, Joyce joined the Navy and spent 4 years as a journalist, stationed outside of Detroit and remained there after her discharge and worked as an associate producer for the JP McCarthy morning show at WJR, followed by short stints as a news anchor for WPZA at Domino’s Farms Headquarters in Ann Arbor (yep, Pizza radio), and then as a producer for the newly launched Fox network, KABB, in San Antonio.
After that she spent the next 26 years working for Metro Traffic and Traffic.com as a traffic anchor in Detroit, DC, Maryland, Virginia and San Antonio. She has also voiced a number of commercial and industrial videos for the Big 3 automakers in Detroit, as well as Comcast and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
In her spare time she loves cooking for friends and family, golfing and ballroom dancing and she just started power walking and jogging and is looking forward to utilizing the parks and trails in the Dallas area. Her other favorite pastime is spending time with her 4-year-old granddaughter who loves to shop, just like her grandma!
