It’s great to be back on News Radio 1080 KRLD! You may remember, I reported for KRLD from the helicopter from 2002 to 2007. Now I am back and leading the traffic team on the KRLD Morning News.
I’ve been covering traffic since 1988. I’ve worked at several stations in DFW including 103.7 Lite FM. Most of my career has been reporting from the helicopter but for some reason I have problems staying aloft. I spent some time on the east coast watching cars go round and round the Baltimore Beltway in the early to mid 90’s. Baltimore was my first engine loss experience and believe me when your pilot yells, “We’re a Glider!” it’s no fun. Baltimore was great but there’s no place like Texas so we loaded up the family truckster and came home. I’m actually from Nebraska but I’ve lived here almost half of my life, so to me Texas is home.
My second mishap in the skies happened in 2007, when we lost the engine in the helicopter while flying near Joe Pool Lake. This time I wasn’t as lucky and crushed my C6 during the landing. But they patched me up and here I am, back where I belong on your Traffic Leader, KRLD. We have a great team of reporters and all the technology tools to give you the best information.
You can always help too just call the KRLD Traffic Tip Hotline if you see something happening on the roads at 214-634-1080. I appreciate you coming along for the ride. Have a Quick Trip! Julie DeHarty
P.S. In my spare time I enjoy long walks on the beach and Pina Coladas!
I have a step-daughter Natasha who is amazing! I also love my dogs Daisy and Sadie and my Heritage soft-tail Harley Davidson. Let’s Ride!
