Tracy Kornet
Tracy Kornet is a five-time Emmy Award-winning host, reporter, and news anchor of CBS 11 News at 4pm, and fill-in anchor on CBS11 News at 5, 6, and 10.
Tracy came to KTVT-TV/KTXA-TV in 2006 to anchor the launch of TXA21 News First in Prime, a two-hour local primetime newscast which enjoyed a five-year run. In 2008, she became co-anchor of CBS11 News at 4, which she has anchored ever since. Her favorite assignments have taken her to New York City, San Francisco, and Miami to follow the Texas Rangers World Series runs and the Dallas Mavericks’ NBA Championship.
Tracy’s first official news job was a morning anchor in Lexington, Kentucky, where her 3 children were born. She spent eight years there reporting, hosting, and anchoring news. In 2000 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona to launch and host its first-ever morning magazine show, Sonoran Living LIVE. On the show’s first anniversary, September 11, 2011, the World Trade Center terrorist attacks compelled her to return to the news desk. She anchored extensive news coverage that day, and soon began anchoring the morning news, in addition to her role as talk show host.
Tracy says her most exciting television moments were co-hosting The View in New York, appearing on Good Morning America, and interviewing Will Ferrell and the cast of Saturday Night Live. She has a passion for music, travel and foreign languages and studied French, Italian, and Japanese. She was an International Relations major at Vanderbilt University, spending intermittent semesters in Japan working at Tokyo Disneyland and for a Japanese pop star as a backup singer/dancer. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Communications.
In her spare time Tracy sings with local bands in the DFW area and attends concerts and musicals whenever she can. She says her all-time favorite hobby is cheering on her kids. Luke , Nicole, and John all play college basketball: Luke at Vanderbilt University, Nicole at the University of Oklahoma, and John at Ouachita Baptist University. Her husband Frank, a former NBA player, is a high school basketball coach at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas.
