The Oak Cliff slaughter house shut down by the city for dumping pig blood into the Trinity River has been indicted on criminal charges.
Late Wednesday the city of Dallas Board of Adjustment formally closed the slaughterhouse operation at a controversial meat packing plant in Oak Cliff.
In January, the City of Dallas alerted the Columbia Packing Company of several alleged code violations. The city claimed the violations could endanger public health.
Dallas city council member Dwaine Caraway wants to know more about the Columbia Packing Company, the Oak Cliff company accused of dumping pig blood into the Trinity River.
The meat packing company suspected of dumping thousands of gallons of pig blood into a creek leading to the Trinity River received a letter from the city Tuesday detailing 18 code violations that may create health problems for the general public.
