Cliff Lee and the Phillies have finalized a $120 million, five-year contract that brings the star pitcher back to Philadelphia. Lee spurned more lucrative offers from the Texas Ranger and the Yankees.
“I enjoyed my time in Seattle, I enjoyed my time in Texas. Looking back, I’m kind of glad. I got to go back to the World Series.”
Ace left-hander Cliff Lee ended up being only a half-season rental in the Lone Star State after the Rangers got him from Seattle.
Turns out the Philadelphia Phillies do have enough money for both Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay — and Roy Oswalt and Cole Hamels, too. A year after Phillies traded him away, Lee chose to rejoin the team.
Nothing says boob grab like a Phillies fan on national television!
