As North Texans prepare for storm season, the American Red Cross today launched its official Tornado App. The free app, available in English or Spanish, offers access to local and real-time weather information.
Multiple tornadoes threw tractor-trailers in the air, damaged both a Forney elementary school and high school, leveled houses and shut down airline traffic out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as one of the worst storms in years hit North Texas Tuesday.
What was expected to be an afternoon of storms with heavy rain and possible hail quickly turned into tornado emergencies for cities across North Texas. Simultaneous storms in Dallas and Tarrant counties produced what are believed to be multiple tornadoes.
The new tornado and thunderstorm warning systems being tested in the Great Plains could also be tried out here in North Texas.
