People have many different traditions during the holidays. Some families share stories or exchange specific types of gifts. One of the most popular traditions that people, their friends and their families share is the tradition of going out and drinking the night before Thanksgiving, sometimes known as “Black Wednesday.” Last year, some great suggestions for some of the best bars in DFW for Black Wednesday to have a drink and enjoy the company of or avoid your in-laws were provided. This year, we have a new list of some of the best Black Wednesday bars in DFW.

If part of the reason you are wanting to get out of the house is to try and avoid some of the older crowd, Barcadia might be one of the best places for you. With lots of arcade games that take you back to your youth and life-sized Jenga, this bar is definitely a good place to head to. Of course, it is also a bar so you will be able to enjoy the 24 beers that it has on tap or the many bottles of liquor that are also available.

The Fillmore Pub
1004 E. 15th St.
Plano, TX 75074
(972) 423 2400
www.thefillmorepub.com

Located in the historical area of downtown Plano, this pub is perfect for just kicking back, relaxing and enjoying a pint with family or friends before eating a Thanksgiving feast. With classic English fare as well as some American favorites, the food is warm and comforting and perfect for a cold night. The dark wood and eclectic decorations make this a wonderful little place that isn’t too fussy and won’t cause you more stress during the holidays.

The Ginger Man
2718 Boll St.
Dallas, TX 75204
(214) 754-8771

If you’re a beer drinker and really enjoy craft brews, The Ginger Man is the pub for you. Malone’s Pub
1303 Calhoun St.
Fort Worth, TX 76102
(817) 332-5330
www.malonespub.com

This pub is tucked away on the edge of downtown Fort Worth. This is a great bar for the “adults” that are not looking for a place with a bunch of loud college kids. It’s very much your typical bar. There is a jukebox that isn’t digital, pool tables and a big-screen television. The bartenders and the patrons all seem to know each other and the prices won’t blow your shopping budget.

The Usual
1408 W. Magnolia Ave.
Fort Worth, TX 76104
(817) 810-0114
www.theusualbar.com

The Usual is one of the best cocktail bars you will find in Fort Worth and the whole DFW area. It makes creative drinks with unusual flavors that most bartenders wouldn’t even know to put together. The bartenders here dedicate most of their time to thinking up new recipes and ways to make the great cocktail list even better. The atmosphere, despite the fancy cocktails, isn’t stuffy and is a great place to go if you’re just looking to enjoy a well-made cocktail.
