JPMorgan Chase Settles Mortgage Discrimination Lawsuit; Audio ExcerptJPMorgan Chase is settling charges that independent brokers working for the bank discriminated against minorities seeking home mortgages. A federal suit filed Wednesday in Manhattan accused JPMorgan Chase & Co. of charging black and Hispanic borrowers higher interest rates and fees for mortgages from 2006 to at least 2009. The lawsuit alleges that discrimination cost at least 53,000 minorities borrowers tens of millions in higher interest payments and fees.

President Obama Commuting Chelsea Manning’s Prison Sentence; Audio ExcerptPresident Barack Obama is commuting the prison sentence of Chelsea Manning, the former Army intelligence analyst who leaked classified documents. Manning is more than six years into a 35-year sentence for leaking classified government and military documents to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks. She was known as Bradley Manning at the time of her 2010 arrest and attempted suicide twice last year.
