Three more companies announce plans to come to north Texas, the latest in a string of firms heading to the Lone Star State.

Six Flags made headlines when it announced its new home would be Grand Prairie. Like the theme park giant, Healthcare Management Systems is also leaving New York; they’re going to Las Colinas while Heartland Automotive is Irving-bound from Omaha. None of these relocations surprise U-T economist Mike Brandl, who says there are big advantages to doing business here.  He says we have a low tax rate, it’s easy to get around and we have a low cost of living.
For companies going for a global presence, Brandl adds Texas is a winner – with relatively easy access to Asia, Europe and Latin America.
