The University of Texas at Austin is in the top 10 in the country when it comes to Total Student Debt schools are waiting to collect.
The Chronicle of Higher Education says the U.T. student debt is $474 million dollars, putting the school SEVENTH on the list. NYU is tops on the list, followed by USC, Penn State and Ohio State. The average amount owed per student for loans was $21-thousand last year. In the past 15 years, about 20% of the outstanding loans have gone into default. The Federal Reserve says the nation’s student loan debt now exceeds the U.S. credit card debt.
