A new tool to deal with terrorists, gangs, drugs and other crime opens in Austin.  The Texas Fusion Center’s mission is to connect the dots and know what all those dots mean.  It puts together crime information and tips and other incidents and looks for patterns and clues that can solve crime and in some cases stop crime before it happens.  DPS and Homeland Security Director Steve McCraw says there are plenty of controls in place to ensure no one’s privacy is invaded.  “Everyday our agents and everyday our Texas Rangers and analysts know what they can and can’t do.”  McCraw says there are over 2500 law enforcement agencies in Texas and this center will help all of them work together.
