Roy Williams missed the first part of practice today when the media was able to watch them go through stretching, but a Cowboys staffer told me that he was there later. It is not uncommon for players to sometimes miss the first part of practice but it doesn’t happen often, but this appears to be no big deal as Roy was in the locker room afterward watching an intense game of spades between other players. Roy didn’t talk to the media. Coach Wade Phillips also confirmed he practiced despite previous reports.

It would appear that with Kitna at the helm, this would be the perfect time to cure the woeful ground game.  The Cowboys currently rank 30th in the NFL in rushing.

Felix Jones?  Averaging 44 yards a game.  The problem?  It might be that if you cannot run, you cannot run.

Phil Costa steps in at left guard as the third teamer.  Costa says the right things (“Im ready to go”) but the undrafted Costa was originally being groomed as backup center.  The good news is the Jaguars are in rebuilding mode on the DL, and very young up front.

Wade says he thought Kitna had a good day today at practice.

Terrence Newman did not practice today with the rib issue.  He is still real sore.Newman took a pain shot at half time and that apparently slowed him a bit before it took the pain away. The coaching staff is indicating that he will play on Sunday.
