WAXAHACHIE (CBSDFW.COM) – A truck driver told authorities Tuesday that he ran his 18-wheeler off Interstate 35 because he choked while drinking soda.

It skidded down an embankment, slammed into a drainage ditch and shot up on U.S. Highway 287 before coming to a stop between two concrete bridge pillars, Edge said.READ MORE: DFW Area Has 5 Boys Basketball Players Named McDonald’s All Americans

Edge said none of the roads suffered any structural damage, although the Texas Department of Transportation will have to replace a section of guardrail that the truck took out.
