WHAT’S AT STAKE
In the second American Athletic Conference game for both teams, one will break a losing streak. Cincinnati has lost three in a row since opening the season with consecutive victories, while SMU is still looking for its first win _ and to end a seven-game skid that goes back to last year.
The two quarterbacks making their team debuts this season. Cincinnati sophomore Gunner Kiel, who redshirted last year after transferring from Notre Dame, has completed 113 of 192 passes (59 percent) for 1,612 yards with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. SMU walk-on junior Garrett Krstich is set to make his third start. In the Mustangs’ last game Oct. 4 at East Carolina, Krstich completed 42 of 67 passes for 339 yards _ the 42 completions were the second-most in school history, and the 67 attempts were third.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Cincinnati: Middle linebacker Jeff Luc leads the Bearcats with 67 tackles (31 solo, 36 assists), along with 3 1/2 tackles for loss, 1 1/2 sacks and two forced fumbles.
SMU: WR Darius Joseph had a career-high 13 catches for 100 yards against East Carolina. After 103 catches last season for the second-most in school history, Joseph has 21 catches for 164 yards in four games this year.

In its 45-24 loss at East Carolina, SMU doubled its total scoring output from the first four games, when the Mustangs had only one touchdown and two field goals. — SMU opponents have scored at least 43 points in every game this season. — Both Cincinnati and SMU were both in Conference USA in the past, but not at the same time. Cincinnati was in C-USA from 1995 through the 2004-05 school year, the year before SMU joined through 2012-13 school year.
