On a day when children should be playing with new toys and enjoying time off from school instead they gathered outside a home in Crowley. Some comforted each other, some brought flowers, but all struggled to believe the tragedy that happened Sunday.
The identities of the man, two women, and female child have not been released.
The only person to survive the killings was a 9-year-old boy. He managed to call a family member, telling them a man was at the house, trying to kill himself.
The boyfriend of one of the teenagers who lived at the home told CBS 11 News his girlfriend was 18-years-old. Now Marco Victor is trying to make sense of something senseless. “She kept on telling me like, ‘I don’t want to go home.’ She just told me she loved me for the first time.”
Victor is left with only memories. “She was the sweetest girl on the planet. She was incapable of hurting a soul.”
On Monday friends made the long walk to the Kennedy Drive home that police vehicles surrounded just one night before.
Jimena Cruz Arce is 12-years-old and remembers the youngest victim as her best friend. “Whenever she laughs it was so weird and funny,” she said smiling.
Jimena said she and the victim had just sent text messages to each other about Christmas presents and clothes the day before. Now the 6th grader at David L. Walker Intermediate School sounds a little older.READ MORE: Wearing Only Socks And Shorts, Dallas 11-Year-Old Traveon Michael Allen Griffin Missing Overnight
“This is real life. Never doubt anything bad can happen, because something will go wrong at times. She may be gone but not forgotten,” she said.
The 9-year-old found inside the house was not harmed. Police call the incident an isolated event.
It’s a situation tough for kids to understand and tough too for a retired police officer who lives in Crowley. “This is just more than any neighborhood should have to do. It just really is,” said Truman Bradshaw as his voice cracked. “I do get emotional, but I’ve worked suicides where there’s been kids. So it hits me hard.”
Neighbors call the call the adults and children a model family.
Police are not saying if the incident was a murder-suicide.
Family and friends are holding vigil at Bicentennial Park Tuesday at 6 p.m.
