Texas senior tight end M.J. McFarland has been granted his unconditional release and will transfer.
McFarland graduated in May with a degree in applied learning and development.
On the field, he caught 19 passes with three touchdowns in 36 career games. He started four games last year, catching 11 passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns as Texas finished 6-7 in coach Charlie Strong’s first season.
The school announced the move Wednesday. It did not say where McFarland will transfer.
