DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Authorities in Dallas are continuing their investigation in a pair of ATM thefts early Wednesday morning that may be related.

The first one took place at an Exxon gas station just after 4:00 a.m. near the intersection of Hampton Road and Fort Worth Avenue. Surveillance video shows two people dressed in black and wearing masks smash their way into a convenience store, stealing an ATM.

Store manager Paul Sidhu stated that they keep the machine filled with money for their customers.

About 30 minutes later, thieves tried to steal a second ATM from the Bellacures Nail Salon located near the intersection of Luther Lane and Preston Road.

Surveillance video shows a green Ford pickup truck reversing several times to bust down the store front and bang up the ATM.  Two men also dressed in black tried to take that cash machine without success.

Michael Molayem, Bellacures co-owner said they have a pretty solid cash machine store and a LoJack device is on it as well. He imagines that is probably why the thieves didn’t steal it or get any cash.

The two locations are only about 15 minutes from each other.

The entire front of the salon was demolished, and shattered glass covered the ground. The area has been cleaned and the nail salon will open again tomorrow. The owner is thankful that everything can be replaced and no one was hurt.

There has been a string of similar smash-and-grab ATM heists in recent weeks, all throughout the Dallas area. Officials are not only trying to determine if Wednesday morning’s two thefts are connected, but if those are also related to some other cases.
