OAK CLIFF (CBSDFW.COM) – Police are looking for the robber who attacked a woman in West Dallas, then dragged her 11-year-old child for several feet.

“He grabbed my purse and I’m fighting him and then I see my little girl,” said the victim.

The man escaped with the mother’s purse after the confrontation at about 6 a.m. No injuries were reported despite the little girl trying to stop the robbery.

“He was trying to get in the house and I didn’t want him to, and I thought he was hurting my mom… so, like I grabbed on to him and tried to push him off,” said the girl, who eventually fell to the ground after the thief slapped her.

The mother said she begged the would-be robber, saying “don’t do this to me.” Every dime she had was in her purse.

The family said they believe the robber was watching the house and knew when the mother left for work everyday.

“They need to get a job… they need to do something better than going around trying to steal from people,” a neighbor told CBS 11 News. “We’ve been hearing a lot of this going around lately on the news.”

Police haven’t released a description of the suspect. But witnesses said they were able to see the his license plate number.
