FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A man was taken into custody in Fort Worth early Wednesday after he allegedly stole an ambulance from two paramedics. The incident happened just after midnight in the 100 block of Feliks Gwozdz Place, right across the street from JPS Hospital.

According to police, the paramedics had just parked the ambulance when they were approached by a man brandishing a knife. The suspect allegedly forced the driver out of the vehicle and jumped in, speeding away from the scene with the emergency lights on and the siren blaring.

The thief drove the ambulance through an iron fence in the 800 block of West Cannon Avenue, and into the parking lot of Radiology Associates. There, he left the vehicle and started to run around Harris Methodist Hospital property.

Authorities caught up with the suspect in the 700 block of West 5th Street and subdued him using a Taser. He was then taken into custody for aggravated robbery. His name has not been released.

There were no other injuries reported in this incident.
