FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Students and staff members at Westcliff Elementary School in Fort Worth had a difficult time returning from Spring Break on Monday after the death of a classmate over the weekend. The 10-year-old child was in fifth grade, and counselors are on hand at the school to help students and faculty members cope with the sudden loss.

The child died on Saturday after being involved in a serious crash while riding an ATV at the Rednecks With Paychecks off-road enthusiast event held this weekend in Montague County. According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office, he sustained multiple injuries.

After hearing about the news, a father stopped by the elementary school on Monday morning just to give his daughter a hug. “No 10-year-old should have to deal with this,” he said.
