DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Today, friends and family are remembering 8-year-old Jordin Barrett, who was found dead after being ejected from an SUV and into flood waters Saturday.
On a GoFundMe page, friends of Jordin and her family described her as a “beautiful little girl whose bright smile and zest for life were apparent by all who knew her joy.”
She was one of two children thrown from the vehicle after a roll-over crash Saturday. The other child, a 9-year-old, was taken to a hospital in Dallas.
There were six people in the vehicle when the crash occurred just after 6pm near 2nd Street off U.S. 175 Westbound. The driver lost control, hit an embankment, and landed upright in flood-waters. Investigators do not believe alcohol was involved. Jordin Barrett’s body was recovered by members of a swift water rescue team about two hours after the crash.
