— Thursday night at the House of Blues, it is Ben Folds. No, 5 will not be there. Just Ben Folds.
And Friday at the House of Blues, it is the one and only Dan Band. What? You know not of this band named Dan? In a nutshell, it is some guys who do their versions of mostly chick songs with really screwed up lyrics. In other words, don’t take your mama to this show.
— I’ll be honest. I don’t have any tattoos whatsoever. I am a wuss. But many people do have them, and for these people and anyone who else who digs body art, check out this weekend’s Dallas Tattoo Expo at the Irving Convention Center Las Colinas. They’ll have top Tattoo artists, tattooing live on site, a burlesque Show, contests and unique vendors.
— You have seen the cartoon and you may have also seen the new movie. Now through June 21, see the live production of Cinderella at Fair Park.
— Are the kids and grandkids already driving you nuts? Then get them enrolled in a summer camp, pronto! Summer Camps at the Dallas Arboretum are organized by age (3 years to 8th grade) and cater to your child’s interests.

— Growing up, I soooo wanted to be Wonder Woman. I even had the metal bracelets that deflected bullets. If you dig this lady as much as I do, make sure to attend the discussion — Wonder Woman: Creation, History, and the Female Superhero at the Dallas Museum of Art Friday, June 19. This talk is part of Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art.
— If you want to end the week on a lighter, funnier note, head over to the Addison Improv Friday and Saturday for Whitney Cummings. You know this chick. She is the creator and star of the NBC sitcom Whitney and the co-creator of the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls.
— Father’s Day is Sunday and if the guy in your life digs country music or Hootie and the Blowfish tunes, take him to see the Darius Rucker Southern Style Tour at Gexa on Friday.
— The Grapevine Summer Blast Friday Fireworks is happening every Friday between now and Labor Day weekend. Due to high water at Lake Grapevine, lake parks are closed, so you need to view the show from the rooftop of the parking garage at Gaylord Texan Resort. They’ll also have a DJ spinning the hits. You can also view the show at the Grapevine Mills parking areas.
— Get up close and personal with some real animals Friday. Literally. The Dallas Zoo Animal Adventures at Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza is a 45-minute interactive program that features animals from around the world. The program includes six to eight presentations with a variety of birds, mammals, and reptiles and you can also register for a chance to win tickets to the Dallas Zoo.
— Friday’s Concerts in the Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden is paying homage to something you spent many hours doing as kid. No, not standing in the corner because you were in trouble — the other thing you did. It is Video Games Live. Experience the sights and sounds of some of the most popular video games of all time.
— If you feel the need for speed, make plans to be at Texas Motor Speedway Friday night for Friday Night Drags.
— Looking for something different to do? Then check out Friday night’s “Owl Prowl at Trinity River Audubon Center”. You’ll learn to call owls, attract owls to your yard, and you will learn about the owls that call Dallas home.

In addition to the cars, trucks, motorcycles and classic cars, they will also have a bikini contest, a bass competition, food and music. Make a Wish North Texas grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
— The AT&T Stadium Spartan Sprint is happening this Saturday. We are talking 3+ Miles, 20+Obstacles in 90 Minutes. The muddy Sprint is fun for everyone from beginners to seasoned athletes.
— I never got into G.I. Joe because I was a Wonder Woman kind of chick, but it’s cool. The 4th Annual G.I. Joe and Action Figure Show at Grapevine Convention Center this Saturday is one of the largest shows of its type in the country. And it isn’t just G.I.Joe. They’ll have new and vintage action figures, including figures and accessories Star Wars, Marvel Comics and more. Active Duty Military, Police and Fire are free with current ID.
— It is Father’s Day this weekend, so take the guy in your life over to Fort Worth for The Original Fort Worth Gun and Knife Show Saturday and Sunday at the Will Rogers Center Amon Carter Exhibit Hall. They’ll have a huge selection of firearms, ammunition, shooting supplies and knives. At the show you can buy, sell or trade. The gun show is more than just guns. They also have knife dealers, custom knife makers, knife-making supplies, personal defense items, cammo and western clothing.

They’ll also have a live bee exhibit, new insect displays, crafts, educational booths, live native snakes, and turtles. Basically, everything my brother brought into the house when we were kids.
— Speaking of animals, Safari Nights at the Dallas Zoo Saturday night will feature the music of Trout Fishing in America.
— This looks like an awesome event. The 35th Annual National Veterans Wheel Chair Games is happening at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center June 21-26. Each summer, Veterans from across the United States, including a team from Great Britain, compete in 18 wheelchair sports events while providing encouragement and mentoring for new Veterans.
