AUSTIN (AP) — A convicted sex offender on the Texas Department of Public Safety 10 Most Wanted list has been captured in Wyoming.

Ernest Leroy Smith of Houston faces return to Texas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday announced the arrest of the 46-year-old Smith. He was caught Sunday following a disturbance at a truck stop in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

DPS says Smith is a sexually violent predator who removed his ankle monitor Aug. 27 and fled from a Houston halfway house.

Smith was wanted for parole violation and failure to comply with civil commitment requirements. His criminal history includes aggravated sexual assault of a child in Lamar County, indecency with a child and escape.
