MANSFIELD (CBS11) – A small business owner in Mansfield says she has been ripped off by a shady contractor who has left her heart broken and frustrated.

Mandie Fowler, the owner of Paw Paw’s, a dog boarding company, says she had an idea to help house homeless dogs in the area. She wanted to use her own money to build several elaborate dog houses on her property that would give unwanted dogs homes.

She says she made a deal with a man who promised he could get the job and says,  “I begged him please don’t be that guy that takes advantage of me. Don’t take my money.”

She signed his contract. Paid him about $7,700 and then he vanished on her.

Fowler said, “no phone calls, no text messages, no e-mails, nothing not contact, and it’s been weeks since he’s shown up here.”

CBS 11 has chosen to withhold the contractor’s name at the time of this report since we have not been able to get in touch with him to get his side of the story.

Fowler says she has now called in the help of her friends and her cancer-stricken grandfather to help finish the work left undone.

She offered the following as a message to the person who did this to her.

“You got me, but it won’t be the end of us. We’ll come back, and we’ll get you. The dogs will have their homes.”

A go fund me page has been set up to try and raise money to finish the work. If you would like to help you can do so by clicking here.
