DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A violent car crash in downtown Dallas early Wednesday ended with four people being taken to the hospital. It happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of the Woodall Rodgers Freeway service road near the intersection with Akard Street. The scene was located right near Klyde Warren Park.
According to investigators, one of the drivers was involved in an earlier crash as well.
Police said that the driver of a truck went through a red light and slammed into an SUV carrying three people inside.
The three victims from the SUV were taken to Baylor Medical Center at Dallas. The 25-year-old female driver is in critical condition. A 15-year-old passenger is in stable condition, while a 48-year-old passenger was determined to have no injuries.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said that the driver of the truck was also in a hit-and-run crash just a few blocks away, at the intersection of McKinney Avenue and Routh Street. He was later identified as 24-year-old Nathan Clark.
The suspect was taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, but refused treatment. He was then arrested and now faces at least two charges of intoxication assault.
In the first crash, the camo-colored truck sideswiped an SUV and kept traveling down the street. The driver of that SUV called 911 and alerted police about the truck. That is when police found the second crash scene.
