DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Two people were sent to the hospital in critical condition after a head-on collision Friday evening, police say.

Dallas police say the head-on crash happened when a Honda Accord driving west hopped the median and continued on in the eastbound lanes, colliding with an Acura that was driving east around 7 p.m. Friday in the 3100 block of Fort Worth Avenue.

The male driver of the Honda and the female driver of the Acura were taken to hospitals in critical condition, police say.

Two adult, male passengers in the Honda were hurt, but police say their injuries were not life-threatening. A 2-year-old child that was in the Acura was not injured but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Police say the child safety seat was not properly secured in the car.
