DESOTO (CBSDFW.COM) – A man a DeSoto police officer was attempting to stop, crashes his car and ran onto I-20 Sunday night where he was struck and killed.READ MORE: ERCOT CEO Bill Magness Voted Out By Board Of Directors
Police say it started around 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Ezell at Hampton Road.
The officer heard multiple gunshots in the area and saw a vehicle leave the area, without turning on its headlights.
The officer attempted to pull over 38-year-old Kendrick Demon Young of Dallas but police say he took off.
He went northbound on Hampton Road before crashing in the 8700 block of S. Hampton in Dallas.READ MORE: The 12 COVID Tax Changes You Need To Know Before Filing This Year
Police say Young ran into the eastbound lanes of I-20 where he was struck and killed.
Officers recovered an AK-47 rifle, a .22 rifle and two spent shell casing from inside the vehicle.
Investigators with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit responded to the scene and investigated the I-20 accident.
