FARMERSVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) – The Farmersville Police Chief says it was distracted driving that led to the January 20 crash of a Greenville fire engine into the Dairy Queen at 201 E. Audie Murphy Parkway.

Earlier this week, investigators determined there were no mechanical issues that attributed to the crash as the black box data was reviewed and does not indicate any specific malfunctions. After following up with the driver, Police Chief Michael Sullivan says, ‘It appears that the driver of the fire engine became distracted while driving and lost control of the fire engine. The driver was not able to regain control… and struck the Dairy Queen.”

Investigators are awaiting toxicology results from the Department of Public Safety Lab before closing the investigation into this matter.
