FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – The second of two suspects involved in a gun battle that erupted after a police chase and injured a Fort Worth police officer was booked into the Tarrant County Jail Thursday.

Ed McIver Jr., 21, was originally booked into the Mansfield Jail after he was apprehended by police. But Thursday the Tarrant County DA accepted the charges against him – Criminal Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer, Evading Arrest, and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon – among other charges.

McIver, Jr and his father ran from police as officer’s tried to pull over and arrest Ed McIver, Sr., 43, who was wanted for felony warrants including Aggravated Assault, Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault, Family Violence and multiple bail jumping warrants. He was declared dead at the scene; a handgun found near his body.

The officer who survived the father and son’s alleged crime, Ft. Worth Police Officer Matthew Pearce is currently in critical condition at JPS Hospital.
