Investigators said McCann Utu stabbed his mother Stacy Fawcett and his brother Josiah Uta before killing himself. A funeral service was held for all three at the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.
“I believe in every bad situation, God can do good,” said McCann Utu Sr.
McCann Utu Sr. spoke publically for the first time on Tuesday. He used his time to highlight the concussion his son McCann Jr. suffered while playing sports. “How can we make changes? How can we protect our precious children who love sports?” questioned Utu. “My son paid the ultimate sacrifice.”READ MORE: Officials: Man Suspected Of Making Threats Against Texas Lawmakers Arrested
Stacy Fawcett’s brother Scott Fawcett said the plan was always to hold a joint funeral. “The thought of memorializing them separately truly makes even less sense to us than the tragedy of why we’re all here,” said Scott Fawcett.
“A force to be reckoned with,” as Stacy Fawcett’s mother Lynn Croft put it, but also a gentle soul whose priority was always her sons. “She was determined she was going to fix this,” said Croft.
McCann’s battle with life after a traumatic brain injury was also mentioned by Croft. “McCann loved his mother. I want that to be understood. Mental illness isn’t something we all understand,” said Croft.
While it might not ever be fully understood what went wrong, Croft and other family members said the love the three shared should never be questioned. “The three amigos are together and that’s the way it probably should be,” said Croft.MORE NEWS: State Fair Offers Hundreds Of Free Acts, Shows And Exhibits
