Update 4/28 9:20 am: Jay Scott McEvers has been captured.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM/1080 KRLD) – There was a manhunt in North Texas for a prisoner that escaped from the Van Zandt County jail Wednesday night.

According to police, 47-year-old Jay Scott McEvers (5′ 10″, 195lbs) escaped from the jail, where he was being held on drug and firearms charges.

Local officials report he was located and taken into custody around 9:00am Thursday.

McEvers’ mother Carolyn McEvers and his girlfriend Cynthia Heese have been arrested and face felony charges for helping McEvers escape.

McEvers’ criminal history includes charges for armed robbery and other drug convictions.
