MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) – A security guard was shot after he got caught in the crossfire of a shootout outside a Mesquite sports bar.

He was trying to break up an argument outside the Sports City Café. He confronted the two men in the parking lot, when one of the men grabbed a gun from his car and opened fire. Police say the other man also pulled a gun and shot back.

The security officer was shot in the leg and hip and was rushed to the hospital and is expected to recover. Neither shooter was wounded, and took off after the guard was shot.

Oscar Salvador Alejandres, 29, was pulled over nearby on I-30 and charged with aggravated assault, being a felon in possession of a firearm and driving while intoxicated.

The other gunman was questioned but has not been charged.
