TERRELL (CBSDFW.COM) – Police in Terrell are investigating the sexual assault of a child. Authorities were made aware of the incident last Monday, however, the date of the actual assault has not been released. Both the victim and the suspects are said to be minors.

Three boys have been arrested in relation to the case. They are minors of about the same age. According to police, the alleged victim and suspects “knew each other very well.” Details of the case, such as ages of those involved, are being guarded because juveniles are involved.

While the assault did not take place on school property, the initial cry for help was made to the victim’s school counselor. That individual contacted the child’s guardian and, following a discussion, brought the victim to the Terrell Police Department, said Capt. A.D. Sansom.

The assault was recorded with an iPhone, and that video has been circulating through electronic messaging. Authorities have gotten a copy of the video and are now using it to assist with their investigation. The suspects could face additional charges for the creation and distribution of that recording.

Law enforcement officials have asked anyone with a copy of the video to delete it immediately, and not forward it to anybody else under any circumstances. Possessing and forwarding the circulated video is considered a crime, whether or not the individual was involved in the assault.

Anyone who may have additional information about this case — including parents, if they believe that their children were involved — should call the Terrell Police Department at 972-551-6622.
