- Friday, May 27- Sunday, May 30- Families can enjoy music of Joel Cross from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a petting zoo and face painting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pecan Grove, and Kindermusik from 12 to 12:30 p.m. $2 hot dogs and root beer floats will also be available.
- Saturday, May 28 at 11 a.m. – Twice Upon a Time Storytellers Gene & Peggy Helmick-Richardson bring to life Abraham Lincoln, one of the Great Contributors in Gary Lee Price’s Bronze Statues Exhibit.
- Monday, May 30 – Eddie Coker Children’s Concerts at the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., sponsored by DallasChild. Free with paid garden admission. Enjoy a petting zoo and face painting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pecan Grove and $2 hot dogs, root beer floats, and patriotic music Friday through Monday.

Friday (May 27), the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden kicks off Summer at the Arboretum. The Great Contributors Bronze Statues Exhibit is a part of Gary Lee Price’s renowned art collection. The life-size bronze sculptures are placed throughout the garden, and include Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Claude Monet, Albert Einstein, William Shakespeare, Mark Twain and the Wright Brothers. These life-size bronze sculptures are seated on benches throughout the garden and guests are welcome to come take a selfie or a seat with any of these Great Contributors.
This evening, Cool Thursdays at the Arboretum features the All Funk Radio Show, with over 150 songs that include old school R&B, Motown, pop and hip hop.
This Memorial Day weekend, the Perot Museum will feature two new 3D films – National Parks Adventure 3D and Flying Monsters 3D – plus the really cool exhibition, Eye of the Collector, daily science demos and activities, and more. From May 27-30, daily “science on the spot” demos, bookworm readings, science trivia and other drop-in activities will take place at select times throughout the Museum, plus kids 5 and under can enjoy art activities in the Moody Family Children’s Museum until 3 p.m. Beginning Memorial Day, veterans, active and retired U.S. military personnel and first responders will receive complimentary general admission plus $3 off general admission for members of their immediate families (up to six family members) through Labor Day. In addition, everyone can take advantage of $10 Museum general admission from 4-6 p.m. Monday-Friday (from May 30-Sept. 2), including First Thursday Late Nights.
This is the final weekend of Scarborough Renaissance Festival’s 2016 season (May 28, 29 & 30, 2016)! Spend the Holiday weekend Stepping Back in Time with the fun of Scarborough Renaissance Festival’s 23 stages of extraordinary non-stop entertainment, full combat jousting, Birds of Prey exhibitions, the Grande Parade, Human Chess Match, Renaissance rides, games of skills, mermaids and so much more including Adam Winrich (Fire Whip Show) who set a brand new Guinness World Record of 267 bullwhip cracks in one minute at the Festival on May 7th! On Memorial Day Monday (May 30th), the Festival will also pay tribute to our Military by inviting all current and retired Military Service members to march in Scarborough’s Grande Parade at 1pm. This election year, The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is presenting “A Time for Greatness: The 1960 Kennedy Campaign”, a new temporary exhibit showcasing campaign memorabilia, photographs and film from the Museum’s collection about one of the closest elections in U.S. history. The exhibit runs now through November 13, 2016, and is included with Museum admission.
The Dallas Memorial March/Carry the Load Memorial walk is happening at Reverchon Park on Sunday and Monday (May 29/30). Carry The Load is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the true meaning of Memorial Day. We are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit that provides active ways to honor the military, law enforcement, firefighters and rescue personnel who dedicate their lives to keeping our country safe.
This weekend, the AramArt Culture and Art Institute is presents the Sheed Film Festival, the first Persian film festival in the DFW Metroplex. The Sheed Persian Film Festival will be this Memorial Day weekend, May 27-30, 2016 at Angelika Film Center – Dallas, 5321 E. Mockingbird Ln. Overall, nine Iranian films produced in recent years will be featured during this 4-day festival.
