DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas police are asking for your help tracking down a peeping Tom who exposed himself to a woman outside her apartment window.

It happened Thursday morning around 2 a.m. in northeast Dallas at the Solaris Apartments. The victim is speaking out in the hopes of catching the suspect.

Tara Eden only had her kitchen blinds open from the bottom of her window when she looked outside to find the man sitting next to her air conditioning unit. Only the threat of her dog that finally scared him away.

“I was crouched down like this. I was reorganizing my Tupperware, and that’s when I looked to the left, and he was sitting right there,” Eden said.

She isn’t sure how long the man was there before she spotted him looking right at her with his pants down and touching himself. Terrified, she opened the window and asked what he was doing.

“He said, ‘My bad. Wrong apartment,’ and I said, ‘wait until my pit bull gets ahold of you,’ and called for her, and he quickly ran away,” Eden recalled.

Eden called police and took her rescue dog Fiona outside to look for the man, but he was already gone.

“I was absolutely terrified. I’ve never experienced anything like that, and I think that my safety’s really at risk,” Eden said.

Police said they’re concerned if the man is not caught he will do this again, and the next time he could escalate to something worse. That has neighbors like Savannah Seal on alert.

“If he’s not in his right state of mind to be out here playing with himself, like he’s not in his right state of mind at all. He could take it to the extreme. Do something else if he’s out here. He’s not in his right state of mind,” Seal said.

As for Eden, she’s moving out of her apartment, and she urges everyone not to let down their guard.

“I’m scared to death now, so just lock your doors, shut your blinds even if you don’t think anyone’s home or it’s two in the morning, just be safe,” Eden said.

For now detectives only have a limited description of the suspect, so they’re hoping anyone with any information about this man will come forward.
