Dallas police and fire were called out to Bora Bora Apartments on Gaston Avenue around 8:30 last night. The boy was being attacked by a white bull terrier.

Another resident tried to pull the boy away from the dog, but the dog kept biting the boy’s legs. The dog was pinned against the apartment’s doorway just as officers arrived.

The boy was taken to Children’s Medical Center for the serious injuries to his legs.

Officers used a Taser on the dog, which died during the struggle. It had a microchip, and officers discovered it belonged to a neighbor. The neighbor had left the dog with her brother while she was out of town, and it had escaped from the yard.

Police charged that neighbor’s brother with having a dog on the loose. Other charges could be possible.

This happened around the same time as a vigil was being held for a 52 year old woman who was mauled to death by a pack of dogs. Antoinette Brown died earlier this month after that attack in south Dallas.
