IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) – The Irving Police and Fire Departments responded to a near-drowning Saturday at the pool of the Woodside Villas apartment complex in Irving.

According to reports, the police department was the first to arrive, and they pulled a 36-year-old man from the bottom of the pool.

According to officials, prior to the 911 call, the man was in the deep end of the pool, while his niece was playing with other children on the other side of the pool.

According to reports, the children noticed the man was at the bottom of the pool.

One of the kids put on goggles and dove to the bottom of the pool to check on the man according to reports. When the child surfaced, he yelled to call 911.

According to police, the niece called 911. The children tried to pull the man out, but weren’t able to.

When Irving officers arrived, they pulled the man out and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

According to officials, the officers were able to get a faint pulse before the medics arrived.

The man was transported to Baylor Medical Center of Irving.

According to police, the man is unconscious, but still alive.
