Monday night, Coach Jim Schlossnagle got some tough news about the child who is battling neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer.

“That was really hard because he truly is a part of us,” said Schlossnagle.

Monday night, Micah’s family posted on social media that his cancer has progressed and that Micah will soon go into hospice.

Micah’s mother posted on CaringBridge.com: “I’ve never seen any person endure such suffering with such a positive attitude. Micah celebrates life everyday no matter his circumstances. He always has. We could all learn a lesson from the bravest little boy that ever lived.”

The lesson isn’t lost on the TCU baseball team.

“I think it encourages us to play harder. I think it encourages us to embrace the moment, understanding there is way more than baseball,” explained TCU pitcher Mitchell Traver.

Catcher Evan Skoug added, “Our problems may seem bad to us at the time. But, if we look at it in the scope of things of what he’s going through, it’s unbelievable. And he’s just a source of motivation for us.”

The TCU team is sporting an “M” on their caps in honor of Micah.

“If there’s one thing Micah stood for it’s never ever give up. And for this Horned Frog family that’s what we’ve been about,” said Traver.

Coach Schlossnagle summed up his feelings this way: “Regardless of what the prognosis is, he is truly a part of everything we do whether he is here or not. And that won’t change. Ever,” said the coach.

TCU takes on Texas A&M in College Station starting Friday.
