DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM ) – A 29-year-old subcontractor was impaled and rushed to Parkland’s emergency room after falling onto rebar at a Dallas construction site.

It happened near the hospital district at a site off the 1900 block of Market Center Boulevard Thursday afternoon. The man was onsite to do framing work when he fell onto the piece of steel that was sticking out of the ground.

The rebar pierced the man’s back and stomach. He was alert and conscious when first responders arrived.

A witness told CBS11 the incident was an accident.

CBS11 reached out to the local OSHA office repeatedly but have yet to hear back from them.
