NICE, FRANCE (CBSDFW.COM) – A Dallas woman visiting Nice for a wedding says she was about a half mile away from where the deadly attack happened on Bastille Day revelers.
Kristen Crouch told CBS11 on the phone, “About four of us were walking back to our hotel when I heard two pops. I thought it was fireworks and didn’t think anything of it but all of a sudden all of these people were running in the opposite direction speaking French and screaming so we turned around and started running in the opposite direction.”
Crouch said she and her friends went back to the apartment they were at earlier. She said the attack happened right outside her hotel.
“All I saw were tons of ambulances and police cars,” said Crouch within a couple of hours of the attack. “Our friends got back later in the evening and got patted down by police when they were walking in the road.”
Crouch said it’s the second time this week she’s had to tell friends and family on Facebook she’s safe. The first was after the deadly officer ambush in downtown Dallas a week ago.
“We can’t believe this happened right outside our hotel. We’re just thanking God we’re okay,” said Crouch.
