Police in Fulshear say nobody was hurt in Thursday night’s incident and the animal was being transported to an alligator refuge.

Capt. Mike McCoy says the alligator is quite big — at 8 feet 9 inches and nearly 300 pounds.

Homeowner Doug Dallmer says the goal was not to harm the alligator, which was hissing and biting while being removed by some reptile wranglers.

Fulshear is 30 miles west of Houston.

In May, an alligator more than six feet long was found behind STEAM Middle School in south Dallas. It took several Dallas police officers and a Dallas County game warden, using catch poles,  to wrangle the gator. The animal there was taken to a wilderness preserve.
