FRISCO (CBS11) – Iconic rapper Kayne West wasn’t anywhere near the Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco Friday.  That didn’t matter.

Hundreds of his fans lined up for hours for the chance to shop at his pop-up “Pablo” store.

It’s only one of two such stores in Texas this weekend.

The other one is at the Houston Galleria Mall.

Victor Rosales and Alex Cisneros of Dallas bought t-shirts, sweatshirts and a jacket.

They say they came because West is a cultural phenomenon.

“Kanye is an idol to a lot of people. Just like Michael Jackson was to the generation behind us. That’s what he is to us,” said Rosales.

That’s why they didn’t hesitate to come to this three day event.

“You can’t buy this everyday,” said Rosales

They and hundreds of others here stood in line for hours.

Once inside, fans have only 15 minutes to shop.

“I woke up at 4:30 in the morning, got here at 7, so I’d say I’m pretty hyped,” said Will Dolinsky of Mansfield.

Cameron Kramer of Plano added, “I’ve always loved Kanye West and his music but his merchandise is hard to get.”

But well worth the steep price of admission he and others say.

Kramer says he spent $420 for four shirts and a hoodie.

Rosales says he parted with $185 and Cisneros says he spent $540 on merchandise.

Pointing to the cash on his hand, Rosales joked, “It was a wad before, but Pablo drained it a bit.”

They’re expecting to attract 3,000 customers by the end of the day Sunday at the Frisco mall.
