DALLAS (KRLD) – Some Pokemon GO robberies earlier this month, led Dallas police to bust up a well known gang.

Two separate groups of Pokemon players were hunting around White Rock Lake, when three men robbed them at gunpoint, stealing their cell phones and several other items.

Officers set up an undercover sting, and witnessed a man breaking into a car.

“We followed that individual through the south Dallas area where we took him into custody. When we did a search, we found property from many of the individuals who had been victimized.”

David Pughes with police says the arrests lead them to a larger ring.

“The suspects that were taken into custody were a part of the ‘Felony Lane Gang’. They travel throughout the United States and predominately focuses on burglary of motor vehicle offenses and turns them into identity theft offenses.”

He says since those arrests, the robberies in the White Rock area have completely dried up.
