NORTH AND CENTRAL TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A man opened fire on two vehicles near Beltline and Broad before killing a man who had just stopped for gas near Highway 67 and Cooper late Sunday night.
The suspect is believed to be Silvestre Franco-Luviano, 30, who remains at large.
Dallas Police confirmed Ruben Moreno, 33, found shot to death an hour later on the shoulder of SPUR 408 in Cedar Hill about an hour later, was connected to the same crime spree.
Cedar Hill Police responded to a corner Texaco gas station where they found Welton Betts Sr, 44, of Corsicana dead at the scene.
His wife gave police a general suspect description and told officers that suspect had stolen their car.
Cedar Hill Police said the suspect then headed to a neighborhood off the very next exit.
“The suspect in that apparently went to a residence, forced entry, stole a set of keys from a homeowner who was home at the time,” said Lt. Colin Chenault of the Cedar Hill Police Department. “Took her car and fled the location. That’s where that 2014 Silver Lexus comes into play.”
That silver Lexus, that was stolen from a man who was not hurt. The suspect forced his way into the victim’s home and demanded the keys. That car was found in Georgetown unoccupied Monday afternoon. Neighbors of the car theft victim were torn between anger and fear.
“What if it was one of us,” said neighbor Mireya Sanchez. “Or one of my neighbors getting killed. It’s scary. But, at the same time, makes me angry because how can you do that to someone innocent?”
