DALLAS (1080 KRLD) – A long, winding chase kept Dallas police busy overnight.

According to police, the chase began with a suspected stolen SUV out of Richardson. Once an alert was communicated to local authorities, the SUV was spotted in the Dallas mixmaster.

Dallas County deputies tried to pull over the SUV but the driver wouldn’t cooperate. He sped off with flashing police lights behind him — through east Dallas, into Garland and Mesquite, winding around eventually into Pleasant Grove where it all came to a halt near Jim Miller and Lake June Road.

According to police, the pace of the chase slowed to a crawl when spike strips were used to flatten all four tires.

But the driver kept going for quite awhile on the rims.

In all, the chase lasted about two-and-a-half hours.

The unidentified driver was transported to jail,  police questioned and released a passenger.
