“She was walking through the breezeway when she noticed a clown walking towards her,” said Sgt. Rolando Belmares with the Texas State University police. “Even if it started as a prank, unfortunately now they’ve crossed that threshold and it’s a criminal offense and we’re investigating it as such.”

Now many other students have expressed concern about going outside after dark.
“It has changed the way that we do everything because we go to the library and gym at night… and now we don’t,” said college student Sloan Schoenewolf. “I think it’s really threatening and it’s a really scary thing because we don’t feel safe going out at night anymore.”

This year, MedStar said the program will continue, just without the clowns.
