DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas Police have arrested Lonzell Hunter, 22, for capital murder in the shooting death Sunday evening of Martha Teran, 42.
Hunter’s bond is set at $500,000.
Police said Teran was meeting up with Hunter after connecting on a selling website, to sell her cell phone to him.
Deputy Chief Thomas Castro said Hunter took Teran’s cell phone, shot her and took off.
Teran was rushed to a hospital shortly after 6:00 p.m. Sunday where she was pronounced dead.
Police said late Wednesday afternoon they are looking at the possibility of other suspects in the case.
Cynthia Roberts is a fellow realtor of Teran’s at the Gilchrist and Company in Dallas.
She said Teran was a joy to be around and a very giving person. “She always would have bags of clothing and food in her back seat when she was showing homes just to give them out to people in need. That was her heart.”
She said because Teran didn’t have insurance, her family is in need of help.
The funeral will cost about $8,000 and realtors are trying to raise money to help out.
They’ve already raised $2,000.
Teran was a real estate agent at Gilchrist and Company, where her boss Tom Gilchrist remembers her as a hard worker.
“She was a quiet no nonsense gal. Just a gentle spirit. Always smiling. Always loving on her kids,” said Gilchrist. “She was planning a trip to Colorado with her family soon.”
