DALLAS (AP) — A city administrator who has worked in Texas, Washington and Florida was named city manager for Dallas.
The Dallas City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved T.C. Broadnax, who’s currently city manager in Tacoma, Washington. Broadnax starts his new job Feb. 1, replacing retiring City Manager A.C. Gonzalez.
His responsibilities include oversight of more than 13,000 municipal employees and a current Dallas annual budget of $3.1 billion.
Broadnax spent five years as a San Antonio assistant city manager before taking over city operations in Tacoma in 2012. He’s also a former assistant city manager in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Broadnax earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and in organizational communication from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Texas.
